Straightening of the teeth is important for looks, giving a greater sense of confidence. Straight teeth are also important to be able to clean the teeth properly – avoiding cavities as well as gum and bone disease.
The use of braces is sometimes necessary in the treatment of TMD (TMJ) problems.
For over 35 years our office has used conventional braces with small brackets that are bonded to the teeth. These appliances give excellent control in straightening teeth. For the past 20 years we’ve used various removable and fixed appliances to develop the arches and correct bite problems in order to avoid removing teeth when possible.
Early Orthodontic Treatment
We can enhance a smile at any time but there is an optimal age to begin treatment. Beginning treatment at the optimal time ensures the greatest result and the least amount of time and expense. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. Treatment may or may not be necessary at this time. However, we can anticipate the most advantageous time to begin treatment. More details...
