DIAGNOdent

The DIAGNOdent is among the newest of technologies. It scans your teeth with harmless laser light that searches for hidden decay. Protective glasses are not needed for this laser. There is no pain or discomfort in its use.

Leaders in the field of decay research agree that conventional methods of decay discovering are inadequate and outdated for modern dentistry. With the fluoridation of water and improved oral hygiene, the nature of decay has changed. Harder and more resistant enamel can conceal aggressive below the surface decay.

Conventional manual probing with an instrument is only about 25% accurate for early decay detection as opposed to over 90% accuracy with the DIAGNOdent. Thus we can determine if decay has started much earlier. Knowing the decay status of a tooth, we can place a preventive sealant or a very small filling using the HOYA Con Bio “DELight” laser.

We use 4 different lasers for 4 different main purposes.
1. The “DIAGNOdent” is used to detect hidden cavities.
2. The HOYA Con Bio “DELight” is used to remove decay
3. The HOYA Con Bio “DIODent II” is used for multiple soft tissue surgical procedures.
4. Low Level Lasers have been proven to have a beneficial biological effect.
