DIODent II Laser
The “DIODent II” laser is used for soft tissue treatment procedures. Its primary use in our office is in treating periodontal disease (gum and bone disease). It is used to remove inflamed tissue within a periodontal pocket.
It also can be used for the following procedures:
| • |
Trim away diseased gum tissue. |
| • |
Increase the length of a tooth above the gum line as a cosmetic procedure. |
| • |
Uncover impacted teeth in orthodontic treatment. |
| • |
Remove muscle pulls. |
| • |
Remove swollen painful gum tissue over an erupting tooth. |
| • |
Lasers can also be used with children who are “tongue-tied”. This can be done in an office visit instead of having to go to the hospital and be anesthetized. |
| • |
Treatment of cold sores. |
| • |
Biopsies or sample tissue from a lesion to see if it is cancerous. A laser biopsy requires no suturing and heals quickly. |
| • |
Hastens clotting in procedures. |
| • |
Can remove excess tissue under the tongue. |
This treatment is usually much more comfortable than treatment with conventional instruments. It usually has no (or very little) bleeding and swelling. It reduces (or eliminates) the need of post operative pain medication.
We use 4 different lasers for 4 different main purposes.
1. The “DIAGNOdent” is used to detect hidden cavities.
2. The HOYA Con Bio “DELight” is used to remove decay
3. The HOYA Con Bio “DIODent II” is used for multiple soft tissue surgical procedures.
4. Low Level Lasers have been proven to have a beneficial biological effect.
